New to microneedling?

Microneedling is a customizable skincare technique designed to support smoother, more refined-looking skin. This guide explains what it is, why people use it, how the device and cartridge work together, and what you need to know before getting started.

What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling uses a pen fitted with a disposable cartridge containing very small needles. As the device moves across the skin, the cartridge creates controlled microchannels at the skin’s surface as part of a cosmetic skincare routine.

What Can Microneedling Help Improve The Appearance Of?

  • Fine lines
  • Uneven-looking skin texture
  • Enlarged-looking pores
  • Dull or tired-looking skin
  • Uneven-looking tone
  • Skin that appears less smooth or firm

  1. 1 Choose your Dr. Pen
  2. 2 Choose a compatible cartridge
  3. 3 Cleanse and prepare the skin
  4. 4 Use the device according to the instructions for your model
  5. 5 Follow with a simple, gentle skincare routine

Understanding the Pen and Cartridge

The Dr. Pen is the reusable device. The cartridge is the disposable tip that attaches to the pen. Different devices use different compatible cartridges.

Always use a new compatible cartridge for each session. Cartridges are intended for single use only.

What Should I Use With My Routine?

Keep your skincare simple and gentle.

During use, only use a glide or skincare product that is specifically appropriate for microneedling and follow the instructions provided with your device or product. Do not assume that every facial serum is suitable for use during microneedling.

Afterward, focus on gentle hydration and barrier support. A simple, fragrance-free moisturizer can help keep the skin comfortable and hydrated.

Avoid harsh exfoliants, strong acids, retinoids, or irritating products immediately after your routine.

Protect Your Skin

Freshly treated skin can be more sensitive. Keep the routine gentle and use broad-spectrum sunscreen during the day.
